Semi regular
Semi regular patterns include periodic tilings, which may be constituted by regular polygons or other shapes, as long as there is repeatability. These patterns include diverse tilings such as periodic tilings such as uniform tiling, k-uniform tiling, non-edge-to-edge tiling, monohedral tilings, or aperiodic tilings. Artists have long used these properties to populate the surface, and derivative works such as the ones by M. C. Escher where regular polygons are extrapolated to shapes that interlock, confusing the unwary observer. These tilings can then be topologically transferred to the stereotomic surface to create the final shapes of voussoirs, as observed in Truchet arrangements.
