Tension
Tensile resistance is a material property not immediately associated with stereotomy as the compressive nature of forces is the main driver in historic structures. However, the natural tensile resistance of materials allows them to be manipulated in order to resist tensions during construction and to, in certain cases, describe non-compressive structures.
