Alignment
Alignment interlock is used to increase accuracy during assembly. Although assembly information is usually provided mainly by the centering, this process is accurate mainly in two dimensions as it assumes the voussoir intrados will set perfectly on top of a centering (Support structure below); in more demanding cases such as the ones found in Tensioned voussoirs above this centering vertical information does not exist and registration notches are useful to ensure to the correct positioning of the voussoir.
