Purposed static base
The pursuit of accuracy or the need to not interfere with a pre-existence might be overcome with a purposed base created to hold the stereotomic structure. The Ribbed 3D-printed floor (Block, Matthias Rippmann, and Van Mele, 2017, p. 109) is held in air and supported by a metal encasing that holds the outwards thrust produced by the heavy voussoirs. Another example is the Cork Vault Pavillion that features a large horizontal base composed of 18 large boards of wood interconnected where the accurate construction took place.
