One-off Mould
This kind of mould is produced for one utilization only, acting as sacrifice on the final produced element. Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (GFRP) is a material which is produced by applying a resin in a mould, then laying sheets of fiberglass matting on top of it, and repeating the process until the desired thickness is acquired. The Plasticity Pavilion has a plastic materiality acquired from the 2mm thick layer of GFRP that encloses a pre-milled large EPS block[1] (Justin Diles, 2018). This process creates large, light and hard voussoirs which get interlinked in double-curvature contact surfaces.
[1] The milling of the EPS incurs in large materials waste and expenditure.
