Fabrication
This signifier is present in those cases that take fabrication options that save resources, such as energy, machine maintenance, or auxiliary materials. A fabrication strategy that usually incurs in long time, energy and material waste, is subtractive 3D milling. This 3D carving process works by sweeping away all the negative material to leave out only the intended positive shape. The most promising fabrication methods in what concerns to sustainability might be reconfigurable moulds or additive fabrication, two methods which produce virtually no material waste.
