Saw (3D carve)
A circular saw is able to model a surface through successive cuts, as seen in Figure 63[a]. Similarly to the milling limitation of its diameter for carving small holes or acute angles, the circular saw has in its radius the minimum concave curvature of the intended surface. Typically used for modelling intrados or extrados, two main strategies are used: smooth finish and rough finish. The first option is always intended for the final aspect of the voussoir surface. The rough finish might also be used as the finished look if intended by the architect, or as a first pass before a finishing pass by the same or other tool.
