Compression
Compression resistant materials are those more susceptible to be used in stereotomy, as this is the main performance needed to convey the force thrusts generated by the voussoirs weight onto the supporting base. The widely used stone is a perfect example of a compression resistant material, but other materials should be taken into account as well, such as engineered stone, cast stone, concrete or adobe.
