Smooth
Smooth contact surfaces are characterized by the finishing given by a mechanical cutting tool such as a saw, the side of a mill, or high quality profile water jet cutting. Other fabrication methods might also produce this effect, such as a smooth mould. Sliding is more likely to happen with smooth surfaces, which is why it is usual to observe a forced roughening of the surface, or other solutions such as using mortar or interlock.
